I used DFS for a over a year, and it's more of a farming/crafting sytem, though I believe they are coming out with an optional RP hud with typical "needs" to fill, similar to Xeolife. The best "needs" system in my experience for pure RP value.
Customer support is excellent and so is the group. It also has a hud you can wear with hovertext, so care-givers of Littles can see a child's status, so it's very much kid/family friendly. And farming is new and currently being further developed. It covers all the basic "needs" on its hud and has fun low-cost and free/copy items to use to increase your stats, or scripts you can drop in your own mod items. Xeolife is a terrific RP system it's free (or nearly) and has no recurring costs to keep using the system. I have used Xeolife, DFS and now for the last few months, Aura.
